8:15 p.m., The First, The Flood – Death on the Dike, Drama
A catastrophic storm surge in the North Sea brings disaster to the small village of Stegebüll. Only Wienke, the young daughter of the dike chief Hauke Haien (Detlev Buck) survives the misfortune and grows up under a different name in an assisted living facility. At the age of 18 (Philine Schmölzer) she begins to research her origins and finds Iven (Anton Spieker), her father’s former protégé, who lives in the Hamburg underworld. Out of financial necessity, Iven takes on a risky assignment that confronts him with his own past.
8:15 p.m., ProSieben, The Masked Singer, music show
The best, craziest show in the world: In “The Masked Singer” ten stars from all walks of life appear in oversized, elaborate costumes that make them completely unrecognizable. One can only speculate about the identity of the prominent undercover singers… Viewers vote for their favorites. At the end of the show, the masked celebrity with the fewest votes will have the secret revealed: which star is hidden under the mask?
8:15 p.m., ZDF, The Quiz Champion – The Double Special, Rateshow
In “The Quiz Champion – The Double Special” moderated by Johannes B. Kerner, couples compete against experts in various areas of knowledge. The team that can win all five duels will win 100,000 euros. The winner of the double special will be announced at the end of the second broadcast. If there are several successful teams, a final duel decides the champion.
8:15 p.m., VOX, 50 years of ABBA and the secret of Swedish pop, music documentary
For the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Sweden, the documentary highlights the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s hit “Waterloo”, which launched her international career and ushered in the Swedish pop phenomenon. The documentary explores how this style of music conquered global charts and why ABBA’s music is still instrumental in this success today.
10:00 p.m., Das Erste, The Diplomat: Murder in St. Petersburg, political thriller
A German-Russian journalist, Kolja Petrow (Beat Marti), arrives at BER airport from St. Petersburg with his daughter Manja (Rena Harder). They flee in fear for their lives. Without the knowledge of the diplomat Karla Lorenz (Natalia Wörner), a childhood friend of Petrov’s, he is received by a Russian secret service commando. Kolja is able to hide an important data stick and bring his daughter to safety before he is caught by the kidnappers. The police found the girl shortly afterwards in a rental car, but there was no trace of Petrow.
