Escape after accident – driver “sinks” car in the forest and runs away

That could have ended far worse for a 29-year-old driver: the driver of the car ended up in a forest in Sautens (Imst district) in Tyrol on Thursday morning. Instead of getting help, the man fled. A passer-by sounded the alarm hours later.

The accident happened around 6 a.m., according to police. The accident driver was coming from Roppen on a municipal road when he got off the road in Sautens in a right-hand bend – the reason for this was initially unclear. As a result, the man’s car fell about 20 meters into a forest. The 29-year-old was able to free himself from the wreck and left the scene of the accident. His vehicle was totaled when it fell into the forest, and the fire brigade and a towing service had to salvage it.
