A woman from the Ruhr area enriched herself by 1.1 million euros with at least eleven invented test centers and the corresponding fictitious tests.

In Essen, the public prosecutor’s office has brought charges against the alleged operator for several invented corona test sites. The woman is said to have opened at least eleven alleged test sites nationwide, according to a report published on Monday by the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Justice. Accordingly, the suspect raked in a total of 1.1 million euros with the fraud. The woman was noticed by a report of suspected money laundering.
According to the information, the woman received several payments for allegedly performed corona tests and vaccinations against the corona virus. Of the total damage, 925,000 euros have already been confiscated through account attachments. The alleged perpetrator is therefore in custody.
The report lists other cases from other parts of North Rhine-Westphalia. Proceedings for fraud with corona test centers would be conducted in Bielefeld, Bochum and Hagen, among other places. At the Cologne public prosecutor’s office alone, eleven procedures are currently being conducted for corona tests. A trial involving billing fraud worth millions in corona test centers began in December before the Bochum district court. Two men who are said to have caused damage of 25.1 million euros will probably have to answer for themselves there until the end of May.
