Tuesday November 28, 2023, Monique Olivier, the ex-wife of serial killer Michel Fourniret, will appear before the Hauts-de-Seine justice system. She is accused of complicity in the kidnapping of little Estelle Mouzin, 9 years old, in 2003 and for complicity, rape and murder of two other young women, Angèle Domèce in 1998 and Joanna Parrish in 1990. According to Michelle Fines, former journalist at TF1 and co-director of the documentary The Fourniret affair: in the head of Monique Olivieravailable on Netflix, Monique Olivier could deliver several important elements during her trial. More precisely, it could give crucial information concerning the bodies of the victims, and in particular that of Estelle Mouzin. Michel Fourniret’s ex-wife is “an enigma, a chameleon”
According to the author of the book Inside the killer’s brain: the Michel Fourniret-Monique Olivier affair (Fayard editions, 2023), “we don’t know if she’s saying true or false, because Monique Olivier is an enigma, a chameleon. There are 20, 30 Monique Olivier. Nobody knows“. In 2004, after a year of interrogation three times a week by Belgian investigators, she finally mentioned the little girl who was 9 years old at the time of her kidnapping in 2003. “It took phenomenal work by the investigation team and the judge, the clerk, the attorney profiler to get her to speak. There were sometimes six or seven of them around her. It was only after several weeks that she finally said something when the judge put evidence in front of her”remembered the journalist. The ex-wife of the man nicknamed “The Ogre of the Ardennes” then recognized “having seen Estelle Mouzin, then confided that the child had been kidnapped and sequestered in such and such a place” before giving the location where Estelle Mouzin’s body would have been buried. But due to time or poor location, the girl’s body could not be found. After the death of Michel Fourniret, on May 10, 2021, she is therefore the only one who can move the matter forward. According to the director, “Investigators are certain that he would have given the location of the little girl’s body, as he did for others.” But with his ex-wife it’s a different story. “The only one who could say something was Monique Olivier. It remains to be seen whether or not she will speak at this trial“she concluded. Monique Olivier remains presumed innocent of the charges against her.
