Crypto giant Coinbase has just announced that it is “temporarily” suspending the payment of staking rewards on Ethereum. A decision which is part of trench warfare funds with the US financial policeman, but which could be due to any other reasons.
Coinbase suspends ETH staking withdrawals
Earlier in the evening, Coinbase announced that Ethereum staking reward withdrawals were suspended.
Even though Coinbase has returned to open war against the SEC (with the hot topic of staking income on PoS networks like Ethereum, and the legal qualification of the underlying assets in particular), it was enough no more to worry a naturally nervous crypto community.
However, Coinbase support quickly clarified that this interruption was only due to a “minor” technical hitch, and that the withdrawal of rewards would be restored as soon as possible.
At the time of writing, Ethereum staking reward withdrawals have not been reinstated.
