Etrusco CV 600 DF 4×4: Compact campervan with a huge bed – thanks to the “foot trick”

MOBILITY

There are usually longitudinal beds in small camper vans. Not so in the Etrusco CV 600 DF 4×4. Thanks to xFlip, an innovative flap solution, you can sleep sideways in the all-wheel drive camper.

For campervans based on the Ford Transit, motorhome manufacturer Etrusco now offers the extension construction called xFlip – and promptly speaks of a revolution. We will introduce you to the principle in more detail.

Camping vehicles such as those based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter are usually too narrow to install a transverse bed. This also applies to expansions based on the Ford Transit. Because longitudinal beds take up a lot of valuable space, especially in compact motorhomes, manufacturers are in a quandary.

A common solution is body extensions at the rear. Where windows are usually installed, converters and extenders install hoods that curve outwards, which expand the interior space. If you like, this is a cheap, non-movable alternative to the elaborate slideout in a luxury motorhome.

Etrusco now has another solution ready with xFlip. From the outside, the system looks like a normal frame window. However, if you open a flap while stationary, a solid box will appear behind it. This box is intended for your feet! It can be opened from the inside.

This creates a transverse bed in the interior of the CV 600 DF 4×4 all-wheel drive van with impressive dimensions of 224 x 150 centimeters. The lying surface is extended by 37 centimeters. The box is covered and padded so that your feet don’t freeze at night.

The CV 600 DF 4×4 will be equipped with xFlip as standard from the 2024 model year. The first deliveries are expected from autumn 2023. The starting price of the 4×4-based campervan is 65,499 euros.
