Eurazeo invests 22.5 million euros in a zero-emission container ship

(AOF) – Eurazeo announced a fifth transaction, amounting to 22.5 million euros, for the Eurazeo Sustainable Maritime Infrastructure (ESMI) fund. This investment will finance the launch by Samskip Group of a first zero-emission container ship of the latest generation, intended for short-distance transport. The Samskip SeaShuttle is being built at the Cochin shipyard in India. Its delivery is scheduled for the second half of 2025.

It will be among the first and largest ships in existence with a hydrogen propulsion system.

“This transaction brings us closer to our objective of investing nearly 50% of our first ESMI fund before the end of 2023. We hope to continue this dynamic in 2024, and are considering the preparation of a second generation of this fund,” said Sylvain Makaya, Partner – Asset-based, and Guillaume Branco, Investment Director – Asset-based.
