A 42-year-old woman, a liberal nurse, was found dead in her home on November 17. His autopsy concluded that he died by “manual strangulation”, indicates prosecutor Frédéric Chevallier. Her partner was “found with a knife stuck in his thorax, in the heart area” and urgently hospitalized with a life-threatening prognosis. He had previously warned his brother that he had killed his partner and that he was going to commit suicide. His brother informed the police.

Already convicted of intentional violence against his partner

The suspect’s state of health improved and allowed him to be placed in police custody on November 23. The man was sentenced for intentional violence against his partner to “three months’ imprisonment with a simple suspended sentence and an awareness course on domestic violence”, specifies the prosecutor.

The suspect, who remained silent while in police custody, was indicted for “intentional homicide committed by a spouse” and placed in pre-trial detention. The nurse had two children from a previous union and the suspect also has two children from a previous union. None were present at the time of the incident. In 2022, 118 women were killed by their spouse or ex-spouse in France, according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior.
