Euro zone: Economists continue to anticipate a return of inflation to 2% in 2025

FRANKFURT, April 12 (Reuters) – Economists continue to forecast that inflation in the euro zone will fall to 2%, according to the results of a survey published on Friday by the European Central Bank (ECB).

The survey shows that inflation is expected at 2.4% in 2024, and at 2.0% in 2025, 2026 and longer term. These expectations are the same as those of the previous survey published three months ago.

The evolution of activity has been slightly revised, with GDP expected to increase by 0.5% in 2024, 1.4% in 2025 and 2026, then 1.3% in the longer term.

The survey results are based on responses from 61 economists obtained between March 18 and 21. (Written by Francesco Canepa, French version Corentin Chappron, edited by Sophie Louet)
