(CercleFinance.com) – Eurofins announces that its subsidiary empowerDX has just launched PFAS Exposure in the United States, a device presented as the first self-test to determine the levels of perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) in the blood.
PFAS are known as forever chemicals due to their resistance to degradation in the environment and the human body.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report that exposure to these chemicals can lead to cancer, thyroid disease, immune suppression, high cholesterol, respiratory disease and even decreased fertility.
According to a National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) report, PFAS are present in the blood of 97% of Americans, reports Eurofins.
The kit offered by the company is the first of its kind and works with a simple finger prick for self-collection of the sample before sending it to the laboratory.
