Europe: Europe is progressing, reassured about the situation in the Middle East

PARIS (Reuters) – European markets advance to the opening on Monday as the geopolitical situation has relaxed, with the session expected to be calm.

In Paris, the CAC 40 advanced 0.25% to 8,042.72 points around 07:26 GMT. In Frankfurt, the Dax gained 0.69%, compared to 0.5% for the FTSE in London.

The pan-European FTSEurofirst 300 index advanced by 0.5%, the EuroStoxx 50 by 0.32% and the Stoxx 600 by 0.4%.

New York index futures suggest Wall Street opening higher, with the Dow Jones and Standard & Poor’s 500 both gaining 0.4% and the Nasdaq 0.47%.

Iran downplayed Friday’s strike, attributed to Israel, with neither enemy country appearing to want to continue the escalation. Geopolitical fears put risky assets under pressure last week, which therefore rebounded on Monday around the world.

Few other events are likely to drive trading on Monday: only consumer confidence in the euro zone at 2:00 p.m. GMT, a second-order indicator, could cause prices to react.

A conference by the President of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, will take place at 3:30 p.m. GMT, after closing. SAP results are also expected after the session.

In terms of values, Alstom advances 4.17% after announcing on Friday the sale of its conventional signaling activities in North America.
