European elections: for Emmanuel Macron, the National Rally “proposes nothing”

The National Rally “does not propose anything” in the campaign for the European elections, affirmed Emmanuel Macron in an interview published Saturday by the regional dailies of the Ebra group, where the head of state denounces the “democratic hypocrisy” of the party of far right. “The RN is not proposing anything. Seven years ago they wanted to leave Europe and the euro. Two years ago we didn’t really know anymore,” attacks Emmanuel Macron, questioned by a dozen young people on the sidelines of his visit to Strasbourg on Friday.

Likewise, in the European Parliament, the elected representatives of the flame party “say that they are with the farmers, but do not vote for the CAP”, continues the President of the Republic. “They are serving people with demagoguery,” insists the head of state, taking the example of immigration against which his far-right adversaries “propose to close the borders,” but “when they are in charge, They see that they need Europe to protect their borders.”

“Receptacle of anger”

“There is a democratic hypocrisy of the RN,” adds the head of state. “A receptacle of anger does not make a program and the aggregation of frustrations does not make a project,” he continues. The president therefore intends to “convince that their answer is not the right one”, while his party’s candidate, Valérie Hayer, is far behind in the polls by the favorite Jordan Bardella, president of the RN.

Emmanuel Macron also says he wants to “convince young people (…) of the importance of going to vote”, despite traditionally low participation in the European vote. “Abstention is not inevitable, but we must explain why we vote,” he assures, pointing out “a risk in not voting”, with the example of Brexit as proof.
