European stock markets ended sharply lower on Tuesday, with the market estimating that the first cut in key rates from the American central bank will come later than expected, and worrying about geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

The Paris Stock Exchange dropped 1.40%, falling below the symbolic threshold of 8,000 points at closing for the first time since March 6. Frankfurt lost 1.44% and London 1.82%.
