The European campaign is in full swing. This Wednesday, Les Républicains went to Oullins, in the Lyon suburbs, for a trip dedicated to drug trafficking. The head of the list, François-Xavier Bellamy, was alongside Laurent Wauquiez, the president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The two men have their destinies linked, because the future of Laurent Wauquiez will depend on the success of the party’s European campaign.
Even if the latter does not express it that way, he showed himself to be particularly involved this Wednesday morning during discussions with municipal police officers or residents of the Lyon suburbs. Laurent Wauquiez, very discreet on the national scene since 2019, is stepping up to support François-Xavier Bellamy.
Wauquiez denounces government communication on drug trafficking
“What I like in the voice that François-Xavier carries is this voice of a right to which I am attached. It is the only list which carries this right which is a solid, coherent, not excessive, but very determined on the values she wants to defend,” he declared in the morning.
Behind this support also lies the hope of being able, in the aftermath of the European elections, to rely on a party in working order to prepare for 2027. Laurent Wauquiez is less and less sparing his blows and denounces the government’s communication on the fight against drug trafficking. On the subject, LR pleads for coordinated action from the municipal police to the control of European borders.
LR wants to focus on consistency and clarity
