The dissolution of the National Assembly, wanted by the National Rally if it won the European elections, “is not the subject of this election”, argued the head of the list LR François-Xavier Bellamy, criticizing the “strategy” of the RN which “seeks to make the French dream”.

If the head of the RN list Jordan Bardella still assured in an interview with Sunday Newspaper that he would demand “the same evening the dissolution of the National Assembly” in the event of victory on June 9, “that is not the subject of this European election”, retorted François-Xavier Bellamy on the set of Sunday in politics on France 3. “The real subject in this European election, it may surprise you, but it is the European Parliament”, he again highlighted.
According to the outgoing MEP, reappointed to the Les Républicains list, a victory for the RN, which is at the top of the opinion polls, “would be the victory of the status quo”. “The National Rally has already won the election in 2019. It has already won the European election even in 2014. What has that changed for the country,” asked Mr. Bellamy.
The MEP thus highlighted the “strategy” of the RN which “seeks to make the French dream by saying: ‘on June 9 if we win, everything will change'”. “But I can already tell you that if the RN wins on June 9, absolutely nothing will happen,” he insisted.

For François-Xavier Bellamy, “the only thing that can disrupt the game (…) is for the right to raise its head” and cause Emmanuel Macron to lose “the majority in Europe that he organized with the socialists, the Greens and the far left. “And so we are going to defy the predictions,” assured François-Xavier Bellamy, given around 8% of voting intentions in the polls.
François-Xavier Bellamy, on the other hand, reiterated his party’s desire to table a motion of censure in the Assembly “if the government creates the first euro of additional taxes” to “correct the indecent budgetary trajectory that it imposes on our State “.
