The head of the Republican list François-Xavier Bellamy has completed his list in view of the European elections next June. Number three will be General Christophe Gomart, former army special operations commander and former director of French military intelligence.
The Republicans are strengthening in view of the Europeans. The list led by François-Xavier Bellamy was completed on Tuesday by the arrival of General Christophe Gomart, former commander of army special operations and former director of French military intelligence. With this new recruit, from a great lineage of French soldiers and new number three on the LR list, the right seeks to establish itself as a credible and competent party.
“I will bring my skills to the field of defense”
This is called a prize of war. Negotiations began several months ago and were concluded in recent days. General Christophe Gomart, 63 years old, 36 of whom spent in the armies, justifies his arrival on the Republican list: “I think I have ingrained this sense of service in me and I will tend to prove that I will continue to do it as candidate in these European elections. I will bring my experience and my competence in the field of defense, in view of the crises which are shaking the world.”
“We do not govern by kicks”
While Emmanuel Macron is, in fact, imposing the war in Ukraine in the campaign, for Les Républicains, Christophe Gomart is a guarantee of credibility on international issues and proof that the party still attracts. “I am convinced, with the end of Macronism looming, that we need to offer the French this alternative of responsibility, credibility, serenity. We do not govern by kicks, we govern by a long-term strategy “, affirmed the president of the Republicans Éric Ciotti.
Christophe Gomart’s first real appearance in this campaign will be Saturday during François-Xavier Bellamy’s first meeting at the Paris Docks.
