The “Eurovision Song Contest” will take place in Rotterdam on May 22nd. Before and after the show, stars like Sarah Connor will perform in the first.

In a few weeks the time has finally come: the grand finale of the “Eurovision Song Contest 2021” will take place in Rotterdam on May 22nd. Due to the corona measures, the supporting event in the first around moderator Barbara Schöneberger (47) cannot take place in front of a large live audience on Hamburg’s Reeperbahn as traditionally. Nevertheless, the show has a large star cast before and after the competition, as the responsible NDR has now announced.

For example, German musicians like Jan Delay (45, “Oh Jonny”), Sarah Connor (40), Michael Schulte (30) and the newcomer Zoe Wees (18) will be featured in the show “Countdown to Rotterdam” at 8:15 pm occur. A live switch to the German contender Jendrik (26) in Rotterdam is also planned before the big music contest. The TV broadcast for the German audience takes place live in the NDR Studio in Hamburg. The final of the “Eurovision Song Contest” will then run from 9 p.m. on the first.

As in previous years, Schöneberger will look back on the highlights of the show as well as the most spectacular appearances in the ESC aftershow, live with prominent guests. Also then live switching to Rotterdam to ESC commentator Peter Urban (72) and to Jendrik is planned.

Düsseldorf ESC as a repetition

In order to put viewers in the ESC mood in advance, the ARD is also planning to repeat the “Eurovision Song Contest” from 2011 in Düsseldorf the evening before. The program can be seen on May 21st from 11:45 p.m.

In 2020 the singer Ben Dolic (23) should have represented Germany with the song “Violent Thing” at the ESC. Due to the pandemic, however, the event was canceled. He decided not to take part in 2021 last November. This year, the 26-year-old singer Jendrik Sigwart will appear for Germany with his song “I Don’t Feel Hate”.
