Like so many parents, Eva Mendes, 49, simply has to capitulate. With the start of the summer holidays, your children can look forward to lots of action and wild adventures. And mom? She has to go along. Goodbye pool time and sundowners by the sea! The Hollywood star has a mission: the kids have to be entertained, each in their own way. Two daughters turn their lives and that of their lover Ryan Gosling, 42, upside down. Esmeralda, 8, and Amada, 7, appear to be high-spirited pre-adolescents and already have some challenging leisure demands.

Eva Mendes has a new role

“This summer should be easy – I wanted to bring back the boredom but things are happening and the kids want to take certain classes and so now I’m just a chauffeur, like a water girl,” the actress explained in a recent Instagram story. “It’s hot, so I’ll just bring them water.”

In addition, she sees herself as a full-time “wiper”, as she states – with a little wink, of course. “I wipe them off because they’ve been sweating each other out,” said the stressed-out celebrity mom, adding, a little exasperated, “I just wanted to say that this summer of boredom I had planned has turned around.”

The happiness of children sometimes also has its downsides in the summertime. But actually, Eva and Ryan are quite happy to cherish and care for the offspring together. Both originally had no ambitions to become parents.

The desire to have children came with love

The couple has been a unit since 2011. The two actors met and – as the saying goes – fell in love while filming “The Place Beyond the Pines”. Suddenly it was there, the desire for children. “I didn’t think about kids before I met her, but after meeting Eva I realized I just didn’t want kids without her,” Ryan admitted to GQ in 2023, recalling, “It There were moments on ‘The Place Beyond the Pines’ where we were pretending to be family and I didn’t want to pretend it was just anymore.” Romantic!

And Eva, too, was suddenly ready for a family. “I never wanted to have kids until I fell in love with Ryan, and it just so happened that I was 40 and had my first child. I think I was 42 when I had my second, so it just sort of happened , that I had a career and then focused on my family,” she revealed in a 2020 interview with Australian radio station Nova 96.9.

And even if her job description has reached a low point because of the children: It can still be assumed that Eva will enjoy every day of this summer with her girls to the fullest.
