Eva Mendes, 50, actually keeps her private life strictly out of the public eye; she turned her back on Hollywood many years ago. But on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, the mother of two spilled the beans on the “Today” show. During her appearance, she reveals that she gave up acting to look after her daughters Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 7. The fact that her husband Ryan Gosling, 43, continues to make films is not a problem: “It was almost like a non-verbal agreement that said, ‘Okay, he’s going to work and I’m going to work, I’m just going to work here.'”

In the TV show, the “The Place Beyond the Pines” actress also talks about her mother, Eva Perez Suarez, who battled cancer.

Eva Mendes on her mother: “This woman is incredible”

First, the former actress remembers the tragic death of her brother Carlos Méndez, †53, who died in 2016 – twelve days before the birth of Eva’s daughter Amada. “She lost my brother to cancer a few years ago,” says Mendes, explaining that her mom was always optimistic despite her own cancer: “This woman is incredible. She’s still damn funny.” The treatments have been completed, but Eva Perez Suarez still has to go to regular follow-up appointments. “When I take her to the doctor’s office – which I often do – and she’s asked, ‘Do you know if you had this or that removed?’ she says, ‘It’s easier if I tell you what I did still have it. Everything is gone.'”

In mid-January, the Ken actor’s wife posted a photo with her beloved mom and announced that she had beaten cancer. “This Barbie is my hero. I wish this Barbie wasn’t so private so I could share everything she survived – but the only thing she lets me share is that she’s a cancer survivor. Like that’s not the case would be enough, I know. I see my strength in her eyes,” Eva Mendes wrote on Instagram.
