“Every time I go there for razor blades, I come out with picture frames”

Dparades of fashion week, major exhibitions, award ceremonies, the echoes of Parisian life sometimes reach the provinces or “in the territories” as we say modestly. Fair return, the Parisians discover all amazed, and sometimes years after the rest of the country, phenomena which emerge outside the capital. This was the case when the Action stores, established for ten years in France, were awarded, at the beginning of April, “favorite sign of the French”, according to an EY-Parthenon survey of 9,300 consumers. The Parisian editorial staff, which had not needed to write articles to explain to their readers what a Leroy Merlin or a Decathlon was when they were at the top of the charts in previous years, had to look into the phenomenon. . Many Parisians then discovered the existence of this brand, which nevertheless has 733 stores in the country (but only one in the capital).

Luckily, other hyperurbans had the holidays, confinement or remote work to discover the Dutch hard discount chain. To them the marbled tealight holders, the special rim cloth, the leopard-patterned adhesive tape, the cordless drill, the cardboard dinosaurs to assemble yourself, the barbecue sponges, the chocolate bitcoins, the mini-watermelon beads, white truffle moisturizing face masks, reservoir brushes, adjustable height dog bowl, precision scales priced below the battery, video games the kids don’t want to play, sodas with tastes that we do not know, the objects “three in one”, items at 1.17 euro and those at 1.18 euro. All those things that we would be wrong to deprive ourselves of. Not sure if you need it? Regardless, with their first visits, they discovered that Action stores are also famous for selling storage boxes.

They walked past several times before deciding to enter to find out what could be sold there. They were amazed to find the appetizer biscuits next to the shampoos. They told their first visit to their friends or on social networks. They say don’t go “apart for” stationery, fishing tackle, wool, ginger juice, which they find nowhere else. With the stocks renewed regularly, they have the impression of having fun hanging out in a garage sale each time they return. Nor have they ever heard of the Grands Frais, Noz or Centrakor brands.
