Anyone who is familiar with the volume keys in Windows knows that the look no longer matches Windows 11. Microsoft is now showing the new volume display in a preview version for the first time. With the freeware ModernFlyouts you get a cooler display today, even on Windows 10.
What is currently considered chic and modern changes regularly. When it comes to speed, it’s no wonder that operating systems like Windows usually lag a little behind or are a wild mix of different epochs. This is particularly noticeable in Windows 10 and 11.
But Microsoft is improving bit by bit. In the latest Insider Build of Windows 11 there is a new flyout for the volume control, among other things. If you adjust the volume in Windows by pressing a button, you will currently see a controller in the Metro design of Windows 8. This no longer fits Windows 10 or even 11.
Since the new display is only available to insiders so far, users of Windows 10 and 11 still have to take action themselves if they want to make the volume control fancier. The freeware ModernFlyouts does that.
After you download, install and launch the application, it will make the changes automatically and then continue to run unobtrusively in the background. The normal flyouts are not completely ended, but only hidden. This allows you to easily switch back to the Windows standard if you still want to.
In the settings you can also specify exactly which ads should all be replaced, whether you prefer a light or dark theme and where the menus should be placed. You can call up the options via the app icon in the system tray at the bottom right.
Now when you press the volume buttons, the revamped menu appears.
More great news
With ModernFlyouts you not only replace the volume indicator, but also the slider for brightness, airplane mode and caps lock. Windows then also displays smart messages for this.
