Aldi Süd wants to significantly speed up payment in its stores with new cash registers. Aldi Nord prevent long waiting times for returns with a new super deposit machine.

Quickly get rid of two or three deposit bottles at the machine, shop, eat and then off to the couch – all too often this ingenious evening plan at Aldi and Co. is thwarted by long waiting times at the deposit machine because a person in front of us is sackful with bottles want to return. But there is now a solution for this: Tomra R1.
This is a kind of “super deposit machine”. Because instead of inserting each bottle and can individually one after the other, you can tip up to 100 bottles at once into the opening of the machine. According to the manufacturer, this should speed up the return process by a factor of five.
The machine is currently being tested at Aldi Nord in three branches, as the company announced on Twitter. These are the markets in Hattingen, Bunde and Wilhelmshaven. If the test is successful, Aldi should soon set up the “super deposit machine” at other locations.
The discounter is currently in a state of upheaval. For example, the food market at Aldi Süd is currently introducing new cash registers. These allow two customers to be served at the same time.
