People who are in the public eye don’t have it easy. Women in particular are constantly criticized for their looks. Ex-GNTM candidate Romina Palm, who is now taking action against nasty comments, shows how dangerous that can be.

After her GNTM exit, Romina Palm, 23, continued to be very successful. Her fiancé Stefano Zarrella, 31, and she are real professionals when it comes to Instagram and Co. and have been able to build a promising career. But it is precisely her success that is currently fatal for Romina. She faces nasty comments about her weight.

Romina Palm no longer puts up with body shaming

Actually, the former GNTM candidate only wanted to let her Instagram followers participate in her morning beauty routine and posted a picture of herself with a face mask, eye pads, crop top and trousers showing part of her stomach. A little later, a deeply malicious message follows, which the influencer cannot keep to herself, but then shares with her community. The following wording can be read in it: “Man, are you pregnant? Or just gotten fat?”.

The influencer can’t leave that uncommented and writes about the comment: “Yes, I’ve gained weight! And now! Does that make me a different person now? Am I worth less now? There’s a lot more that I define myself as my weight”. The subject of weight is still a sensitive issue for the 23-year-old. She has previously spoken out about struggling with an eating disorder since she was 13 years old. Body shaming comments like this can set back the recovery process.

With a video, she encourages those affected

But it’s not only in her story that Romina makes it clear how she feels about body shaming. She takes this news as an opportunity to shoot a small video with which she wants to say to her followers: Everyone is beautiful just the way they are. She writes: “After 7 years of my eating disorder, I’m finally starting to ENJOY my food to the fullest again and I no longer see the calories circling in front of me all the time. And I should now destroy THAT because of a message like this? No! Not with me.” She feels comfortable in her body and you can see it.

With this post, she wants to encourage people who doubt themselves, don’t know their own worth or just don’t think they’re beautiful, and ends her post with the following words: “Who has the right to judge your body? Right, NOBODY! I want you to stand in front of the mirror RIGHT NOW and say LOUDLY one thing you love about YOU. That’s what you’re repeating every night now! Okay?”
