Examination in January – Chamber of Agriculture comes under the microscope

In order to make them “fit for the future”, the Chamber of Agriculture is now subjected to a comprehensive analysis. The main focus is on the financial, organizational and personnel structure of the interest group. Subsequently, the chamber is to be reformed in accordance with the recommendations.

The aim of the reform is to secure the Chamber of Agriculture in the long term, said Governor Hans Peter Doskozil, together with Deputy Governor Astrid Eisenkopf and President of the Chamber of Agriculture Nikolaus Berlakovich. An external management consultant should carry out the examination. But the state and chamber themselves can also contribute ideas, it is said. “The point is to carry out this analysis on a partnership and common basis,” said Eisenkopf. The starting shot will be given in January, and the fluoroscopy should be completed in mid-2022. It was not stated in advance whether the chamber surcharge would also be shaken in the course of the audit. The country itself has been doing organic consultations Since July, organic consultations have no longer been carried out by the Chamber of Agriculture, but by the state. The result is that the grant has decreased by 400,000 euros. This year the chamber will receive a total of 1.5 million euros in funding from the state, the same amount is budgeted for 2022. The state wants to continue to push the organic path that has been taken. 37 percent of the agricultural area is already organic.
