Mathieu Kassovitz wanted to talk about his trip to Ukraine for Télé Star. The director did not hesitate to tackle Bernard-Henri Lévy, who also went to the country at war.
He traveled to Ukraine shortly after the fighting started. On the occasion of his presence at the Series Mania Festival in Lille, Mathieu Kassovitz answered questions from TV Star and spoke of his trip to this country, invaded by Russian troops. The actor returned to his departure for Ukraine and did not hesitate to tackle Bernard-Henri Lévy went to war zones : “Apart from BHL (ridiculed on social networks for having tagged Liberty, Equality, Fraternity on a barricade in Odessa editor’s note.), personalities who travel to Ukraine do not leave to show off but to convey the messages of people like you and me who have found themselves in chaos overnight”, he chants.
Mathieu Kassovitz drive the point home a bit more : “There’s something that annoys me about famous people who sign up: we’re just mouthpieces. It costs us nothing and we take no risks. The real people to be thanked, it’s the ones like this guy I met who left his company, left his wife and kids and drove twenty-five hours to be there and sleep in a tent. a few hours. Let it be clear.”says the director.

This trip to Ukraine, Mathieu Kassovitz will never forget itas he had mentioned upon his return to France on BFM TV : “My father lived 39/45, he was the age of those Ukrainian children when my grandparents were deported. When the country was liberated, he fled from his country in 1956 when the Russians entered Hungary and threatened to kill everyone. It is very worrying what is happening, I am afraid for my children, I am afraid for the future of the planet”. A moving testimony.
