Google will change the way that explicit images are displayed during a search.
The American giant wants to make explicit images (such as pornography) less easily accessible when a person searches on Google Images. In this context, it will set up new parameters.
Google is involved in Safer Internet Day
This Tuesday, February 7 was Safer Internet Day, the “ internet safest day “. The big players on the Web are taking advantage of this moment to reflect on the means they can put in place to improve online security. We have thus seen Tinder choose this beginning of the week to announce the integration of several changes which should in this sense benefit its users.
Google also made a point of contributing. The Mountain View company has communicated on the installation of an additional layer of protection for password management. But above all, it announced that it was going to make “explicit” images (violent or pornographic) less accessible, which will be blurred in the coming months.
Blurred images by default
Google already has a Safe Search filtering system that does not show images to logged-in users under 18. However, with these new settings, explicit images will be blurred by default for everyone browsing the search engine. Faced with one of them, it will then be possible on a case-by-case basis to remove the blurring of the illustration.
You can also go to the settings to choose your preferences for this option. The menu that will then be displayed there will offer either to end this automatic blurring, or to leave it in place, with the possibility of still manually displaying an image. Finally, the user will also be entitled to a filter intended to evacuate not only explicit images, but also problematic texts and links.
