Explosive test report – public education is a self-service shop for politics

Upper Austria’s state audit office has once again issued an explosive audit report and unmasks the promotion of adult education institutions (for non-professional adult education) as an extremely generous self-service shop of politics. From 2018 to 2021 – when there were only ÖVP, FPÖ, SPÖ and Greens in the state parliament, but not NEOS and MFG, which are not accomplices or co-beneficiaries – the net burden of the state of Upper Austria for adult education institutions totaled around 23.3 million euros . Of this, the state provided a total of 8.5 million euros in funding for named institutions, which it described as “political funds”. “In these institutions, a certain proximity to political parties was also recognizable,” explains the state audit office.
