Even if some fans do not seem convinced of the choice of James Gunn regarding the next interpreter of Superman, David Corenswet intends to prove himself, starting with a radical physical transformation.

What we know about the next Superman movie

A few days ago, James Gunn himself revealed a very first image of the new interpreter of Superman (which you can find below) on Instagram. On this image, David Corenswet reveals himself in the role of Clark Kent as he adjusts the boots of the character’s iconic blue, red, and yellow costume DC Comics. For those who don’t know him, David Corenswet is an American actor who we could see in the series The Politician in 2019, but also in Pearl next to Mia Goth in 2022, and which we will soon be able to watch in the disaster film Twisters with Glenn Powell And Daisy Edgar Jones next July 17.

If we look at the post description of James Gunn closer, it is difficult to miss the “7.11.25” which refers to the release date of Superman: Legacywhich is scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States on July 11, 2025, and during July 2025 in France. In addition to David Corenswet headlining, the film’s cast includes big names in cinema like Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillionand even Milly Alcock that we saw in the first season of House of the Dragon.

Even though most of these actors have already proven themselves in other productions, some fans of the legendary DC Comics superhero have doubts about David Corenswetand the new Clark Kent decided to do his best to silence them…

The transformation of David Corenswet into a Kryptonian

Paolo Mascittithe coach of David Corenswetspoke about the new interpreter of Superman in an interview with GQ. Recently, Mascitti worked with stars like Tom Ellis (Lucifer), but above all Flula Borgthe actor who lent his features (and his muscles) to Javelin in the movie The Suicide Squad of James Gunn. It was from this first collaboration that that of Mascitti And Corenswetand the trainer gave some details about the new superhero’s impressive transformation.

According to Paolo Mascitti, the American actor would have gone from around 90 kg to almost 110 kg following his training! A muscle gain of around twenty kilograms which should further evolve as he continues to train. To achieve such a result, Corenswet had to comply with a regime of almost 6000 calories per daywhich he mostly respected but which he would have made a few departures from, according to Mascitti :

He ate about 6,000 calories a day and his diet was strict, but not as strict as I would have liked. Half of his training was via FaceTime and the other half was in person because he wasn’t in Los Angeles all the time. We were talking remotely and I was asking him about his diet, and he was eating cereal! He asked me “What’s wrong with cereal?!”

As we can see on Paolo Mascitti’s Instagram accountthe training of David Corenswet has obviously paid, and some find it a certain resemblance with Henry Cavill now that he has gained mass… It will undoubtedly be difficult to chase away the image of the famous Man of Steel from the heads of the fans, but David Corenswet hasn’t said his last word yet!
