Extremely hypothermic – courageous passers-by pull a senior citizen (70) from Donau

Dramatic minutes took place on Thursday morning in the Traismauer area in Lower Austria: a 70-year-old fell into the Danube. Courageous passers-by became aware of the woman’s plight and pulled her out of the water.

It is not yet known why the elderly woman fell into the Danube. In any case, around 8 a.m., a truck driver and another passer-by discovered the woman in the water and immediately rushed to her aid. According to Philipp Gutlederer from Emergency Call Lower Austria, the 70-year-old suffered from severe hypothermia. She was flown to the St. Pölten University Hospital by the “Christophorus 2” emergency medical helicopter. In addition to the helicopter, the Red Cross, fire department and police were also deployed.
