“F…you”
British author curses Polish truckers

Thousands of trucks are jammed up, aid transports cannot get through – Polish truckers have been blocking the border with Ukraine for weeks. British journalist John Sweeney, who himself is suffering from the consequences in a Kiev clinic, accuses the Poles of doing “the Kremlin’s work.”

Award-winning British author and filmmaker John Sweeney has harshly criticized Polish truckers blocking the border with Ukraine. After a knee operation, the journalist, who reports on the war in Ukraine, is currently in a hospital in Kiev and is not receiving an urgently needed splint for his leg because of the blockade, as he complains on X.

If this happened to him, a relatively wealthy British foreigner, then it would happen to all kinds of people across Ukraine. “It’s not just about me. It’s an entire country that is being strangled in the fight against Russian fascism.” The author of “Killer in the Kremlin” goes on to say: “F… you, you Polish truckers.” He is after them. “Stop the blockade!”

Sweeney, who also Movie “Under Deadly Skies” about Russian air strikes against Ukraine, is particularly concerned about seriously injured Ukrainian soldiers who were now not receiving urgently needed medicine or other things. “You’re doing the Kremlin’s job. You’re disgustingly selfish,” Sweeney said to the truckers. According to him, one of the organizers of the protests belongs to a far-right Polish party with close ties to the Kremlin. He doesn’t say who it is exactly.

Since the beginning of November, Polish transport companies have been blocking several important border crossings with Ukraine. Freight forwarders complain of “unfair competition” from Ukrainian companies after the EU suspended a number of requirements for border transport because of the Russian attack. Freight transport has therefore largely come to a standstill. Thousands of trucks are now piled up at the border in freezing temperatures, and two truck drivers recently died.

Eastern Committee of the German Economy concerned

The regional director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, Stefan Kägebein, also confirms that the blockade has a massive impact on Ukraine. Some of the long-distance drivers did not stick to at least letting wagons with relief goods pass, he told the Germany editorial network. “Shippers tell us that aid shipments from the EU to Ukraine are also affected, for example for medicines or technology to repair the Ukrainian energy system.”

The blockade also affects many German companies. “Companies tell us that delivery times have recently tripled and transport costs have doubled or quadrupled. There are also reports of production interruptions due to a lack of goods and raw materials,” said Kägebein. The damage therefore runs into the millions.
