Facebook and Instagram have deleted the accounts of an American anti-vax organization


BRIEF // Accused of misinformation following its numerous publications criticizing the Covid-19 vaccine, the American organization Children’s Health Defense has seen its accounts deleted on social networks belonging to Meta.

Meta, the parent company of social networks Facebook and Instagram, has deleted the accounts of the American organization Children’s Health Defense (CDH). The latter regularly shared antivac content, particularly aimed at vaccines against Covid-19. Publications that did not please the Californian company which, after several reminders, decided to permanently delete said accounts.

A spokesperson for Meta explained to AFP on August 19: “We have deleted the Instagram and Facebook accounts in question for repeated violations of our Covid-19 policies“.

Freedom of expression

For its part, CHD accuses Meta of not respecting his right to freedom of expression. The association’s founder, Robert Kennedy Jr, nephew of former President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, said in a statement: “Facebook is acting here as a representative of the federal government’s crusade to silence any criticism of the government’s draconian policies.“.

The organization had already had its YouTube channel deleted in September 2021.
