How to make users stay on the platform as long as possible? This is the question that Facebook has been asking for several years and for this, the social network is constantly remodeling, rethinking, enriching itself to seduce again.

But the key to success in extending the presence time remains the content. Whether it’s yours, those of your friends, pages or groups to which you subscribe, or by multiplying the videos under your nose, the solution to put the content in front of your eyes and make you click remains the holy grail of Facebook. .

Go to what really interests you

On Thursday, Meta therefore announced through the voice of Mark Zuckerberg a redesign of the news feed which opens your arms to the site or the application with its flood of messages, photos, videos, advertisements, etc. From now on, it will be necessary to speak of “Thread of publications”. And for good reason, Facebook is changing its approach to give you back control of content after having decided lately to do as it pleases. The idea is to simplify the use in order to more easily consult the recent messages of your contacts.

new facebook feed

Basically, Facebook is not changing. Where you once had successively a group or marketplace or gaming tab (bottom under iOS, top under Android), you will find five tabs, including a new “Threads”. This is where you will be able to sort from the simple Home tab. However, it will take at least two clicks to access what matters most to you: the publications you have chosen, those of your friends, groups or the pages you follow.

It will even be possible to create a list of Favorites with your most important friends (if you had not already identified some of them). A way to be sure that you come back to see what your friends are going through or what is being said in your groups. Curiosity is an important driver on social networks…

This new shortcut bar can also be customized from the Menu and its settings. You can also permanently pin a tab to your shortcut bar.

The “Menu” tab consists of a mosaic of tiles where you will have your different access points between publications, videos, Reels, stories or even marketplace and gaming access.

Facebook assures that there will be no recommendations in the Publications Feed. At least you’ll escape what now pollutes Instagram with a feed that’s much more populated with videos and Reels from accounts you don’t follow than content posted by your own contacts.

A Home and a Thread of publications that merge

On the other hand, for those who just want to “discover”, Facebook keeps its multi-option entry scope renamed “Home”. It’s the one that appears before your eyes at launch and looks uncanny over publications, sponsored content, liked by your friends and others as a bonus.

Meta wants to see it as a place exchanges and discoveries “. It is also from this place that you can create written or video content, Reels that will be shared with your loved ones. The Home feed remains the result of Facebook’s sometimes strange algorithm, normally based on your habits, machine learningand lots of advertising recommendations.

Never hesitate to rummage through your profile and the information linked to you by Facebook to sort it out. It takes time to remove what are claimed to be advertising interests that are sometimes simply linked to… your age or location! It should also be noted that with the redesign of the application, these parameters are even more difficult to find.

You have to go to Menu, click on Settings and Privacy/Settings by scrolling down the menu (or on the toothed wheel on the page), then scroll down the page quite far down to Permissions for sites that can use your info , or in Your Information to track the personal data that is shared by the application and with whom.
