Faced with transphobic rumors, Brigitte Macron takes legal action

The first lady and her entourage are taking action in civil and criminal justice against two women accused of spreading the rumor that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman born Jean-Michel Trogneux.

The “Jean-Michel Trogneux affair” is bouncing back in court. While rumors on social networks have suggested for several months that Brigitte Macron, née Trogneux, is in fact a transgender woman whose birth name is Jean-Michel, the first lady is taking legal action against two women accused of spreading the false information on the Internet, as confirmed by his lawyer this Friday. His three children as well as his brother joined the lawsuits.

Brigitte Macron and her entourage have filed a criminal action and a civil action, for which a first hearing has been set for June 15 before the 17th chamber of the Paris court. This relates in particular to acts of invasion of privacy, infringement of personality rights, violation of image rights. As for the criminal proceedings, a complaint with civil action has been filed for “defamation“, aiming to obtain a criminal trial in the case.

The two women assigned by Brigitte Macron present themselves as a “medium” and an “freelance journalist“. On December 10, on YouTube, they had released a video of more than four hours which had helped to increase the virality of the fake news by accumulating more than 450,000 views.

To listen to the proponents of this intoxication which also declined in accusations, more serious and just as delirious, of pedocrime brought against Brigitte Macron, a vast plot would be at work to hide the change of marital status of the latter. The accusation circulated quietly at first, then it had a major echo when it was taken up, in mid-October, in a far-right magazine in an article signed by one of the two women prosecuted by the first lady.
