The Australian group Can go offers a brand new partner, in the person of Affinity. The British company offers a suite of visual creation products, and will allow Canva to enrich its offering.
Founded in 2013, the Australian company Canva is obviously at the origin of the eponymous graphic design software, and poses itself as a competitor to Adobe (which recently attacked Mozart). Over the years, Canva has acquired several start-ups, namely Flourish, Kaleido, SmartMockups, Pexels, Pixabay and SlidesCarnival.
Affinity’s turn to merge with Canva
According to Bloomberg, this new acquisition would be the largest ever made by Canva, valued at several hundred million pounds. The 90 employees of the Affinity group will all join the ranks of Canva, which is committed to continuing the development of the group’s solutions. For Canva, it’s about providing creators with a full range of solutions.
Canva also wanted to clarify that the perpetual license model (at a reasonable price) put in place by Affinity will indeed be retained.
For their part, schools and non-profit organizations will continue to benefit from the free service previously offered by Affinity.
Canva wants to be reassuring about the future of Affinity
Available on Windows, Mac and iPad, the Affinity suite provides three very distinct tools, namely the Designer vector graphics software, the Publisher layout software and finally Photo.

Indeed, Canva guarantees that the development of Affinity will not be put aside in any way, and that a big free update will arrive later this year.

Obviously, some aspects and features of the suite will be integrated into Canva.
