On the Easter holidays, the TV stations launch an extensive program: viewers can look forward to classics, first broadcasts and free TV premieres. A ray of hope, because this year's Easter will probably take place mainly in your own four walls due to the Corona crisis. Many services are also broadcast on TV, as no church visits are allowed. These are the TV highlights from Good Friday to Easter Monday.
Good Friday 2020
On Good Friday, April 10, the second part of the war drama "The Defector" with Jannis Niewöhner (28) in the leading role as Wehrmacht soldier Walter Proska runs for the first time. On ZDF there will be a new episode of the popular home series "Über Land" with Harald Krassnitzer (59) as judge Hans Bachleitner in feature length, starting at 9:15 p.m., then at 11:00 p.m. the documentary "Pope Francis – A Man of His Word" will celebrate German free TV premiere by director Wim Wenders (74).
Sat.1 shows the free TV premiere of "Fack Ju Göthe 3" at 8:15 p.m. – Elyas M'Barek (37) can be seen as his alter ego Zeki Müller for the last time. The popular German actor is simultaneously competing on ProSieben Hollywood star Johnny Depp (56) in the adventure comedy "Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge". It is the fifth and so far last part of the popular "Pirates of the Caribbean" series around Depp's character Captain Jack Sparrow. Afterwards (10:50 p.m.), Tom Hardy (42) and Charlize Theron (44) in "Mad Max: Fury Road" continue on.
Classic films at Easter 2020
The Easter classic "Das Gewand" (1953) runs on Good Friday at 8:15 p.m. on 3Sat: The Roman tribune Marcellus Gallio (Richard Burton, 1925-1984) monitors the crucifixion of Jesus and then wins his robe. On ZDF the Bible epic "The Ten Commandments" (1956) can be seen on Good Friday in the afternoon from 1:50 p.m. Who has no time at this time: On Easter Sunday (April 12th) 3sat will broadcast the film at prime time at 8:15 p.m.
Another Easter classic that shouldn't be missing in the TV program for the holidays: "Ben Hur". RTLzwei shows the new edition of 2016 on Good Friday at 8:15 p.m. The SWR shows the classic "The Greatest Story Ever" (1965) with Max von Sydow (1929-2020) as Jesus twice: on Good Friday at 11 a.m. and on Holy Saturday (April 11) from 11:55 p.m. The iconic Monty Python bible film parody "The Life of Brian" (1979) is basically Easter at Easter: the work can be seen on Holy Saturday at 8:15 p.m. on RTLzwei.
Enjoy the "Winnetou" films for Easter 2020
The trilogy of the "Winnetou" films from the 1960s, along with "The Treasure in the Silver Lake" (1962), are probably the most popular parts of the series and are available for free on TV on Easter weekend. It starts with "Winnetou I" (1963) on April 10 at 12:50 p.m., followed by "Winnetou II" (1964) on April 12 at 12:55 p.m. and the finale "Winnetou III" (1965) on 13 April at 11:10 a.m. By the way, "Treasure in the Silver Lake" runs on Easter Sunday (April 12th) at 4:15 p.m. at kabel eins.
The best children's adventures for Easter 2020
The little ones are also not neglected on Easter holidays. On Good Friday, for example, "The Adventures of Tintin" (2011) starts on 11:35 am on Sat.1 and in the afternoon at 2:55 pm "Vom brave smith" (1983) in MDR. If the children are allowed to stay awake a little longer at Easter: At VOX there is the animation adventure "Everything is upside down" (2015) to be seen on Good Friday at 8:15 p.m. It shows how 11-year-old Riley's head is doing.

On April 11th, Holy Saturday, an exciting TV program is waiting, although it is not a holiday. For example, RTLzwei is chivalrous. At 3 p.m. there will be the adventure romance "The 1st Knight" (1995) with Richard Gere (70) as Lancelot and Sean Connery (89) as King Arthur. It gets iconic with "Crocodile Dundee – A crocodile to kiss" from 1986 at 18:20 at kabel eins.
On the evening of Easter Sunday at 8:15 p.m. ZDF captain Florian Silbereisen (38) heads for the Kingdom of Morocco in a new episode of "The Dream Ship".
