Big plans are being made for the old garbage dump between the A1 motorway and the multi-storey car park on the grounds of the Salzburg Exhibition Center. At least if Max Aicher has his way. A sports and cultural arena with apartments is to be combined on an area of 19,000 square meters. The apartments, 428 in number, should be affordable even by Salzburg standards, tower 48 meters high into the sky. The jewel case – the arena – should hold 5000 seats and would also be a new, possible home for traditional club Austria Salzburg. As is known, the violets need a new place to stay by 2024 at the latest, as the lights will soon go out at the current location in Maxglan. The Salzburg Ducks footballers and chairwoman Christine Gappmayer are also very interested in the project.
