After auditioning to appear in a highly anticipated Netflix blockbuster, Kaley Cuoco was convinced she got the role. But it ultimately went to Kate Hudson, much to the misfortune of The Flight Attendant star.
It’s one of the most anticipated movies of the year: the sequel to the smash hit Knives Out is set to hit Netflix in a few months.
The platform would have paid the astronomical sum of 400 million dollars to obtain the rights to Knives Out 2 and 3, while Daniel Craig would have received 100 million dollars to take over the role of detective Benoît Blanc in these sequels, still performed by Rian Johnson.
Feature films in which Kaley Cuoco dreamed of participating! The actress currently at the head of the series The Flight Attendant has indeed revealed that she passed a casting for a role in the second film, which she ultimately did not obtain. “I was convinced [que je l’aurais]”, she recalls in the columns of Glamour. And to continue:
It was Kate Hudson who ended up having it. But I was so convinced that it would be me that my luggage for Greece was ready. And then I didn’t get it. I was so devastated.
A new feeling for the actress who confides that she is not used to being devastated about roles. But this one was special for Kaley Cuoco: “I had done readings with the actors, Zooms. And I didn’t get it. I cried, I even cried all night.”
A bad for a good
If it was therefore Kate Hudson who finally obtained the role coveted by the star of The Big Bang Theory, the latter was able to turn instead in the romantic comedy Meet Cute alongside Pete Davidson. “This would never have happened if I had done Knives Out 2. It shows that we are where we belong”, she relativizes.
So, if she remembers having “been disgusted”, in particular because she said to herself at the time “I’m awesome, I’ll play with Daniel Craig”, Kaley Cuoco ended up seeing the positive in this story:
I couldn’t be happier with the way things turned out. It was supposed to be, and Knives Out 2 is going to be great and Kate is great. She had to do it and I had to do it [Meet cute]. And maybe I can audition for the third one.
Remember that Daniel Craig and Kate Hudson will give the reply to other well-known faces of Hollywood in this second investigation of the White detective filmed in Greece: Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr., Madelyn Cline , Jessica Henwick and Ethan Hawke. The cast of the third installment has not yet been announced!
