The message says that many cash gifts of 2,000 euros are waiting for you at the discounter. An attached link leads to the actual scam on a fake Lidl page. All that stands between you and the supposed win is a few questions and a guessing game.
The final hurdle to receiving the money is sharing the competition with five groups or 20 contacts via messengers such as WhatsApp. This way the scam continues to circulate. Last but not least, the criminals ask you to open an application for 30 seconds. This involves installing malware on your mobile device that can cause enormous damage.
The fake competition can be easily recognized by various indicators. On the one hand, all you need to do is look at the dubious URL of the supposed Lidl page. In addition, it is extremely dubious if you only receive a prize if you share the competition with your contacts and have to download or open software. If you see these warning signals, you should stay away from the possibility of winning. No matter how high the supposed prize money is.
