Fall single: 5 reasons why you should be happy about it!

Why are so many singles afraid of autumn? Our editor thinks that no more – because strictly speaking, the cold season can only get better!

As soon as the first leaves fall from the trees, you can literally hear them. The faint fear that creeps through the pores of the single person out there, only to penetrate the outside world with too short, too loud a laugh. You can hear these noises at numerous café tables and bar stools, on and on which two people are desperately trying to become a "we" and rushing from date to date – with people they would not even have been interested in in midsummer .

When the cold season knocks, many people suddenly fear being single: After all, films have been telling us since time immemorial that the time has now come that one only spends sitting in oversized couple blankets on the sofa – please, please two, not alone. I say: humbug! It's time to break the cliché of unfortunate singles. And for that you have to come out of your pit of pity yourself. I'll show you the way, because there are at least (!) Five reasons why it is absolutely fantastic to be single in the fall.

5 things you can look forward to as a single this fall

You can give yourself the concentrated Disney / Trash / Romcom dose

Can you still sing along to the play of colors in the wind from Pocahontas? Me, yes. Whether Disney, the new Bachelor season or the romantic comedy doesn't really matter: everyone has a few film corpses in the basement that are neither cool nor particularly presentable. Do you already feel the breath of freedom when you cuddle up on the sofa and look through everyone without even getting a sideways glance from anyone? Me, yes.

There is speculoos again and you don't have to share it with anyone

Gingerbread, speculoos, dominoes – autumn rewards you with so many good things that it is impossible to be unhappy. And you don't have to worry that someone will eat your last biscuit, nor will anyone see the winter prosperity tummy.

Your friends ask you why you suddenly write a book, do pottery or knit socks.

Yes, it's true: there is a lot more going on in summer. We constantly meet friends in the park (when it's not Corona), are invited to barbecues or go to festivals. Then suddenly the plug is pulled in autumn – and you have more time again. It doesn't have to scare you, because it's a gift. Anyone who has ever spent a rainy Friday evening alone with a glass of red wine and good music will only notice the creativity that lies dormant in one. Fall is the perfect time of year to discover a new talent.

Your friendships get stronger

The more your friends fall away from your new hobby, the more they'll love you. No, seriously: There is a really positive effect if you don't have a partner at the moment. You have more time for your friends and you will automatically spend them more intensely. If you also live alone, you will need to talk. That's why there are voice messages and phone calls – and believe me, even if you just tell your best friend what you ate every day, it will strengthen your friendship. Savor the autumn to spend extensive time with the people who are really important to you. It's like wellness.

And for that alone it is worthwhile: you finally come to rest.

It's a platitude, but it's actually true: You get stronger when you're alone for a while – and when you lean back, too. Speak, not desperately looking for a partner or being distracted. Because you learn that your happiness does not depend on others (another platitude). In the fall, you inevitably have to deal with yourself. OK then. So you can concentrate fully on what you actually want – and only do what you feel like doing. No compromise. Just you, your favorite food, your favorite music and a few candles. Enjoy it!
