Fallout atomizes absolutely everything in its path

Thanks to the success of the Amazon Prime Video series Fallout, Bethesda’s video game has never been so successful in so few days. The community is waking up…

It’s a bit like the series of the moment, in the same way as The Last of Us At the time, Amazon Prime released its adaptation of Fallout. If some were reluctant when this project was announced, the episodes ultimately convinced everyone. Thus, 219 years after the fall of the atomic bombs, we join Lucy (Ella Purnell), who must leave Vault 33 to find her father, in a merciless world. During this mission, she will meet Maximus (Aaron Moten), a young man from the Brotherhood of Steel; an emblematic faction of Fallout, well known to players. Obviously, this journey will not be without pitfalls.

This new adaptation is particularly successful, in particular thanks to the fact that it does not appropriate any title from the license in particular. Rather, she suggests an original story that fits into the lore of Fallout. It is perhaps this quality which made some people want to relaunch their games, or to go and discover them.

A new record for Fallout

With the arrival of the series on Amazon Prime, several players have decided to relaunch Bethesda’s games. According to Steamdb data, the MMO Fallout 76 peaked at 39,455 people simultaneously this Sunday. Before the show aired, only 13,000 individuals had been registered on average over three months. If older games like Fallout 3 or New Vegas have also experienced this gain in popularity, thanks to the streaming service, it is above all Fallout 4 which has welcomed the most players in recent days.

Still according to SteamDB, it has always been the game with the most visitors, but it actually saw its attendance triple this weekend. He recorded a peak 83,491 players, instead of the 20,000 to 24,000 people on average, over the past six months. Fallout 4 is therefore getting a second life, the game having seen its sales jump by 7,500% in Europe this week compared to last week, according to data collected by GSD. 69% of these sales concern the PC, with PlayStation and Xbox consoles sharing the rest. If Fallout 4 rose to the top of European sales (ahead of Helldivers 2 and EA FC 24), Fallout 76, New Vegas and the third opus respectively close the ranking.

We imagine that sales of Fallout 4 are likely to increase further in the coming weeks with the arrival of the free next-gen update. It will also offer a Performance and Quality mode, as well as various fixes to make the experience more stable and new content.
