Family defenestrated in Montreux: chilling discovery after a year of investigation into the tragedy

It was a scene of absolute horror that marked the city of Montreux a year ago. On March 24, 2022, the five members of a French family living in the Swiss town threw themselves one by one from the balcony located on the 7th floor of their building. The father, 40, mother and twin sister, 41, and daughter, 8, have died. Only the son, aged 15 at the time, survived the fall. After being seriously injured and plunged into a coma, he is today “physically restored and cared for by the Curatorship and Professional Guardianship Service”, but would be unable to tell the story of the course of events, according to the public prosecutor of the canton of Vaud. Indeed, the latter would have kept no memory of this terrible morning of March 24, 2022.

Although deprived of the son’s testimony, which could have been edifying, the investigators nevertheless managed to draw conclusions on this case. The investigation indicates that the family lived partially recluse – the children were schooled at home and had almost no contact with the outside world -, and that only the only twin, an ophthalmologist, went regularly to work.
