This weekend, a 16-year-old girl died after impersonating characters from the American television series Euphoria.
The facts took place on the night of Friday January 21 to Saturday January 22 in Tonneins in the Lot-et-Garonne department, when two cousins aged 16 and 14 wanted to reproduce the behavior of the actors in the Euphoria series. The two young women were found the next morning unresponsive in the bedroom of the family home.
On January 10, the long-awaited first episode of season 2 of the series was released on OCS. As a reminder, the latter, co-produced by singer Drake, traces the tumults and adventures of adolescentsin particular embodied by the actresses Zendaya or Maude Apatow, navigating between drugs, sex, alcohol and identity quest. A story that is not to be taken lightly for young audiences. On his Instagram account, Zendaya had warned her fans, emphasizing that the series is intended for an informed public. “I know I’ve said it before, but I want to repeat to everyone that Euphoria is intended for a mature audience. This season, perhaps even more so than the previous one, is particularly moving and deals with subjects that can be difficult to watch.” she had written.
“A shocking affair”
However, the evening between cousins turned out more than badly for the two teenagers who found themselves in the city of Tobacco, at the home of the youngest. Worshipers of the series, the teenage girls seized a large stock of drugs that the father of the youngest had before his death and therefore ingested them to imitate their “heroes”. Except that the next day, the young girls were discovered inanimate in their room: the older one was unconscious while the other was in a daze. “The firefighters called me when they intervened, Cours de la Marne, on Friday evening, but I only learned of the terrible outcome of the incident this Monday evening, January 24. It’s a shocking affair.”said the mayor of the city, Dante Rinaudo.
The 16-year-old eldest was rushed to Agen hospital, her vital prognosis engaged, she was transferred to Bordeaux where she died on Sunday January 23. The youngest, hospitalized in Marmande, is out of danger. The investigation was entrusted to the gendarmerie of Tonneins. A kitty has been put online to support the family of the deceased. The teenager was educated in the Fumel school complex in which a psychological cell was set up.
