fans are trying at all costs to save this canceled game

Barely a day after the leak of the very promising multi-player game Marvel’s Spider-Man, fans have raised their voices. A great proof of commitment and support for Insomniac Games.

Like the citizens of New York to support the Weaver, fans of Marvel’s Spider-Man games came forward. A petition was launched to try to save The Great Web. A multiplayer game that seemed so promising, but unfortunately canceled.

The cancellation of the multi-game Marvel’s Spider-Man is controversial

Following the terrible hack against Insomniac Games, a multi-game project in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe was discovered. Called The Great Web, it was never to see the light of day. However, an extremely promising trailer was leaked on the Web yesterday. As we were writing these lines, a second trailer was released. With these two trailers, we could see enormous potential for this unfortunately canceled project. In any case, the fans did not miss the opportunity to express their deep enthusiasm for the latter.

Very quickly, a huge movement formed to support the project and Insomniac Games. A petition on Change.org was launched. This is not the only platform on which fans have come forward. On X (formerly Twitter), numerous messages call on Sony and Insomniac Games to reconsider this decision. In a climate where promising projects are dropping like flies, such fan engagement is quite rare.

Enough support to save New York?

Among the most vocal fans we have Henry Hughes, who started the petition. In it, he says “ absolutely shocked » that a multiplayer game with such great potential was nipped in the bud. He wanted to show in his own way his “ support and love to developers “. He is obviously not the only one, since nearly 1,500 people have so far signed the petition.

Such a manifestation of sympathy towards Insomniac Games is in any case revealing and touching. Will this be enough to convince PlayStation to review its copy? Unfortunately, this seems very unlikely. However, there is hope, especially given the enormous success of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, as well as the enormous fan community surrounding the iconic superhero. And then, don’t we say that “ with great power comes great responsibility » ?
