After resident Evil (with more or less success), it is the turn of Devil May Cry to have the right to an adaptation at Netflix.
Video game adaptations are on the rise at the moment! There already existed one, in anime, of the adventures of the very charismatic Dante, which dates back to 2007 (which doesn’t make us any younger). While Devil May Cry 5 dates back to 2019, fans of the license have been orphans, so to speak, for a while.
It is therefore on the streaming platform that they will get their dose of demon slaying in style, for now in the form of a first announcement teaser.
Dante is back on the small screen
Since its release in 2001, the first Devil May Crywhich as a reminder was to be a sort of reboot of resident Evil at Capcom, then went it alone. The crazy license has carved out its own reputation and its own community, with great success. In 2018, we learned that Netflix had partnered with the Japanese studio to make an adaptation, of which here is finally a first glimpse.
The platform tells us that the series will be released “ shortly “. It will be headed by Adi Shankar, who was already at the head of the series Castlevania at Netflix. He had this to say about the project: “ I am honored that Capcom and Netflix trust me to deliver our vision for the franchise. As a fan, I vow to set the bar high for this adaptation. » On the animation side, Studio Mir will be in charge.
Let’s hope Adi Shankar isn’t referring to the bar set for Netflix adaptations of resident Evil, and more particularly the live-action series, canceled after only one season… for fairly obvious reasons. The saga Onimusha will also soon be entitled to an adaptation on the platform. The mixed success of the projects around its most cult franchise has obviously not dismantled Capcom regarding its partnership with Netflix.
