Fantasy Island: M6 will not broadcast the last episodes of season 1

Launched last weekend, the “Fantasy Island” series, worn by Roselyn Sanchez, is already coming to an end this Saturday August 19 on M6, after only eight episodes. The channel will not broadcast the last episodes of season 1, nor the season 2 already filmed.

Bad news for French fans of actress Roselyn Sanchez: M6 is already stopping the broadcast of her new series Fantasy Island.

Launched last Saturday in front of only 821,000 viewers, this remake of the cult series The Fantasy Island transports us to a paradise island where lush vegetation, crystal clear water and luxury hotel resort coexist, and which has a secret power: it can achieve the dreams of vacationers. But when they arrive, they don’t know how much this experience will transform them.

Seen notably in Devious Maids and FBI: missing in action, Roselyn Sanchez plays Elena Roarke, great-niece of the famous Mr. Roarke from the original series of the 70s and 80s, who has put aside her own ambitions – and even the love of her life – to preserve his family’s legacy.

After broadcasting the first four episodes last week, M6 will offer this evening from 9:10 p.m. episodes 5 to 8 of season 1, which has ten episodes in all. But fans of American fiction who were hoping to discover the sequel to Fantasy Island next Saturday will be disappointed to learn that the French broadcast ends this Saturday, August 19.

M6 will not broadcast – for the moment in any case – the last two parts of the first season of Fantasy Island, which constitute a special double Christmas episode which had been programmed during the 2021 holiday season in the United States on Fox.

And in the same way, it will be necessary to be patient before discovering season 2, which includes 13 episodes and ended last May across the Atlantic. A second batch of episodes which will be the last since Fantasy Island has been canceled by the Fox channel.

Nicole Kidman replaces Roselyn Sanchez on M6

At present it is unknown when, or if, Fantasy Island will return to M6 for the continuation of the adventures of Elena and Ruby (Kiara Barnes). But it should be noted that the series has not been deprogrammed. The channel had indeed planned even before the broadcast of the first episodes and the sentence of the hearings to stop the broadcast after only eight episodes to make way for a new series.

Nine Perfect Strangers, worn by Nicole Kidman and adapted from a novel by Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies), will replace Fantasy Island in M6’s Saturday evening schedule from August 26 at 9:10 p.m.

Developed for television by David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Big Little Lies, Big Sky), Nine Perfect Strangers follows nine stressed-out, unfamiliar townspeople who arrive at Tranquillum House, a center fitness that promises a “total transformation” of mind and body. Overweight, drug addiction, loss of a loved one: everyone has a different reason and purpose for being here.

Cut off from the outside world, they all fall under the spell of the enigmatic Masha (Nicole Kidman), the director of the center who will stop at nothing to care for them during this 10-day retreat. Between meditation and other relaxation techniques, tongues are soon loosened and everyone’s secrets are revealed. However, as the sessions progress, Masha’s unorthodox methods threaten the group.

Boasting a five-star cast, Nine Perfect Strangers also stars Melissa McCarthy (Spy, Gilmore Girls), Michael Shannon (Knives Out, The Flash, Midnight Special), Luke Evans (Dracula Untold, The Alienist), Samara Weaving (Wedding Nightmare, Scream VI), Regina Hall (Scary Movie, Black Monday), and Bobby Cannavale (Nurse Jackie, The Watcher).

And for the most impatient, Nine Perfect Strangers is already available for streaming on the Prime Video platform.
