Farmers’ protests: what are the main blocking points? : Current Woman Le MAG

After a new meeting between Prime Minister Gabriel Attal and two agricultural unions (the Rural Coordination and the Peasant Confederation), farmers are more determined than ever to continue their actions Wednesday January 24, 2024. As a reminder, professionals in the agricultural sector denounce in particular the administrative overload, the increase in the price of diesel, or even environmental constraints which they consider too heavy. To make their anger heard, they decided to carry out numerous actions including very significant blockages on certain roads and motorways. Day and night, farmers take turns to secure the blocking points. In Auvergne Rhône-Alpes for example, the A7 motorway between Drôme and Isère is cut between Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux (south of Montélimar) and Saint-Rambert d’Albon (south of Chanas). Traffic on a portion of the highway has therefore been prohibited for 6 hours. Other highway affected: the A20 at Châteauroux in the Center Val-de-Loire. It was the FDSEA and the Young Farmers who decided to block it with their tractors.

All regions of France are impacted

Same thing in Bas-Rhin with a blockage of the A35 which is planned from noon in Strasbourg. It should last a good part of the afternoon. On the other hand, in the Ardennes, it is the A34 motorway which was blocked all night. In Hauts-de-France, and more precisely in Calais, farmers have planned to block the A16 motorway. The A26, at the Setques tollbooth, should also be the scene of peasant anger. In Bordeaux, while the ring road is renowned for being the place of daily traffic jams, this Wednesday, it will be totally stopped because of numerous blocking points.

In Dordogne, farmers spent the whole night on the A89 at the Bachellerie tollbooth where they are carrying out an operation “free toll”. In Haute-Garonne, traffic continues to be difficult while blocking operations have lasted for seven days. Once again, farmers are mobilized on the A64 at Carbonne. In Vaucluse, it is a slow operation on the A7 motorway which is disrupting traffic. In Brittany too, traffic is very largely disrupted whether in Finistère, at the Iroise bridge to reach Brest or even in Morlaix, where the anger does not diminish. All regions of France are impacted by farmers’ protests.
