Fashion: stay in the neck

In his encyclopedia, Clothing from A to Z (Falbalas, 2019), Sophie George lists no less than fifty different types or details of collars. Lavallière, sailor, Claudine, polo… Add to that the fact that stylists love to layer them, the combinations seem endless. But, when they are not white, what do the collars of those who wear them say? Certainly their indifference or their attraction to fashion.

During the last Venice Film Festival, for the screening of the film Don’t Worry Darling, of Olivia Wilde, the message of Harry Styles left no room for doubt: the actor and singer is crazy about fashion. His blue Gucci shirt with a pie shovel collar and an insanely long drop screamed his passion in the face of the world. The gentleman is not at his first attempt in terms of textile excess, but the choice of this collar associated with a more classically seventies suit succeeds in making his lagoon-colored nail polish, his rings and his white shoes.

The quest for elegance

Extravagance is a luxury that not everyone can afford. It is for this reason that it is sometimes good to return to sure values. And, in terms of fashion, Diane Keaton is one… right down to her collars. On the screen as in the city, the actress has rolled out a multitude of proposals over the years, such as a harmonious variation around the theme “being chic without spending a penny on your old clothes”.

A lesson in style and styling that is not limited to his big pants or his hats. She has indeed multiplied the turtlenecks, Italian, English, chimney, broken, worn them well closed, unbuttoned or tied. She also often, very often, put a sweater under a shirt, open or not, meaning that New York apartments are quite poorly heated.

As a sign of allegiance to the eternal feminine-masculine of Annie Hall and in support of the aesthetic extremeism of Harry Styles, we could take particular care this fall to combine patterns, folds, lines, the tips so that, without a scarf or large jewel on the bare skin, something a little sought after and elegant happens on this side of the garment.
