Rebel Moon: while waiting for part 3, Netflix has 2 surprises in store for you this summer!

While Netflix has just released part 2 of Rebel Moon online, Zack Snyder is actively working on his two long versions expected this summer on the platform.

The rebels take action in Rebel Moon part 2, which Netflix released online a few days ago. Subscribers responded to the invitation since Zack Snyder’s blockbuster reached the top 10 in several countries, including France.

Despite the murderous criticism from the press and spectators who accuse him of making a repeat of the first part, Rebel Moon nonetheless remains a big release for Netflix. The platform paid out more than $170 million for the first two parts and is expected to pay out even more in the months to come.

6 hours of great show

In fact, the director is actively preparing the release, planned for this summer, of two long versions of Rebel Moon: this is what we call a Director’s Cut. One for each film already released. These latter have the particularity of being R-Ratedwhich means that they will not be recommended for under 17s due to the violence, vulgarity and sex scenes they will contain.

In recent interviewsSnyder confirmed that these long versions will last 3 hours each (i.e. 1 hour more than the PG-13 versions) and that it is a completely different edit:

“It feels more like a parallel universe than a longer version. Things happen in the R-Rated version that we don’t even see in the other one. The order of events is different, so it’s really an interesting exercise.”

Questioned by us, the director and his actors – led by Sofia Boutella – preferred to keep the content of these Director’s Cuts secret, even if they admitted to having seen the first version. But we already know what we expect from these montages: more in-depth characters, a different story from one film to another, a more important role for the robot voiced by Anthony Hopkins and a little less slow motion…

Will this be enough to make subscribers want to (re)discover Rebel Moon and allow Zack Snyder to make his third film? We will have to wait until this summer, or even next school year, to find out.
