When Copenhagen Fashion Week begins, our editorial team immediately pricks up their ears. The collections of Scandinavian labels have long been able to keep up with the renowned fashion weeks in Paris, London, New York and Milan – and three trends particularly stand out.

In recent years, no fashion metropolis has gained as much importance as Copenhagen. When the Scandinavian labels release their latest Present collections, the entire fashion world turns its attention to the Danish capital – and is rarely disappointed. A mix of fashion risk meets relaxed down-to-earthness and creates a unique style that is as creative and yet suitable for everyday use as hardly any other. Editor Hannah took a close look at the new collections and discovered three trends that will move straight into her wardrobe.

Copenhagen Fashion Week: ‘Tis The Season

Hardly any other material has been reinterpreted as often as denim in recent decades. The robust all-rounder has been bleached, dyed, shortened, worn elegantly as a raw version or provided with wild holes. When it comes to the reinterpretation in 2024, the trendy labels agree: we decorate our jeans! And just as sparkling as our Christmas tree, which we just said goodbye to. Munthe and Gestuz show how differently these decorations can be interpreted. While Munthe presents eye-catching Y2K-style pieces with her denim looks, Gestuz combines dark glamor with casualness and relies on loose cuts and dark colors.

“Pastels for Fall? Groundbreaking!”

Yes, actually in a certain way. The fact that the Scandi girls and the Danish labels don’t shy away from colors is nothing new. We always find cheerful colors in the designers’ collections. But the choice of the season’s It colors for the fall and winter collections is still surprising. In addition to dark colors such as rich red, many labels also use delicate pastel tones and reinterpret the classic spring colors to make them winter-proof. Baum & Pferdegarten and Aeron send their models down the catwalk in cozy lambskin jackets in soft pink and sturdy leather trench coats in pastel yellow.

While we’re on the subject of “winterproof”…

Because it’s not just spring-like colors that conquer the cold, gray season, flowers also seem to be able to easily defy the winter frost this season. With its collection, the It label Rotate shows that flowers – in black for winter – should not be missing from any wardrobe this season. They are integrated into festive blouses, but can also be worn casually as a belt around the hips or as a necklace around the neck. Tip: A mix of an elegant brooch and an oversized blouse or baggy jeans creates a particularly modern and unexpected contrast.
