  • A father used the Windows 11 update as punishment for his son’s inattentiveness.
  • His parenting measure sparked a discussion on Reddit.
  • Above all, one detail on the “evidence photo” repels the community badly.

House arrest, reduction of pocket money – all yesterday’s news! If parents want to punish their children for misconduct today, they resort to other measures, such as an update to Windows 11. This emerges from a much-discussed thread on the Internet platform Reddit.

In it, a father boasts that he punished his seven-year-old son with the new Microsoft OS. He had simply left his gaming PC on and unattended. The man, who calls himself “LordOfTheSky515” on Reddit, took the opportunity and secretly updated the computer to Windows 11.

“Proof photo” shocks the network

His post has garnered around 1,100 comments on Reddit so far. While some found the action funny, others were confused. Windows 11 is a good operating system and not a punishment, was the tenor in many comments. After all, the centered start menu, which the father probably sees as a punishment, can be brought back to the usual place with just a few clicks.

But many were shocked for a completely different reason. In the pictures that “LordOfTheSky515” took of his son’s PC, a link to GTA 5 can be seen on the desktop. The title has no youth release, so many in the comments are wondering what he’s doing on a 7-year-old’s PC.

Automatically lock your PC when you’re away

Finally, a tip for all 7-year-olds who fear a similar “punishment” from their parents: Windows 10 offers the option of automatically locking the PC if you move away from them. This dynamic lock can be set up in the settings under Accounts. Click on “Login Options” and activate the “Dynamic Lock” field. Then follow the on-screen instructions.
